A-Level results

DSC 3896

For the sixth year in a row The Abbey School achieved its most successful results in A-levels, the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) and BTECs, with excellent improvements in all three pathways. A*-B grades were achieved in the majority of the A-level subjects and A*/A were achieved in all the IBCP and BTEC subjects. We expect to see that once again all our students will be able to pursue their pathway of choice, with an increasing number of students looking at higher level apprenticeships whilst university is still the most popular option with over 45% of students progressing to Higher Education.

The school is unique in the Swale and Canterbury area in offering such a broad mix of pathways from A Levels to the IBCP and As and A*s have been achieved by 47 of the students across a range of subjects, with 14% of all results A* or equivalent for BTEC subjects and 7% A* across all subjects.

Whilst it is particularly difficult to single out individual success stories, special mention goes to several for outstanding achievement. Juwon Akintola, James Belcher, Tom Bond, Stacey Booker, Alice Brown, Chloe Bullard, Josie Cook, Lynden Dixon, Jazmin Dowling, Matthew Dunk, Harry Earls, Shannon Eynon, Cody Hardaker, Ethan Hood, Anne-Marie Jackson, Elouise James, Laura Lovell, Corey Mellaneo, George O’Flaherty, Daniel O’Neill, Shusanta Rai, Morgan Ruffell, Jade Salt, Edward Tucker, Jordan van Schalkwyk, Rebekah Wotton and Sam Wood who all achieved at least two B grades. Of particular note were Georgia Collins, Millie Farrant, Jack Goodenough, Thomas Hayes, Lewis Longman, Taylor O’Hare and Max Selby-Bird, who all achieved at least two A grades.

The school is very proud of all their students and is particularly pleased to see so many opting to continue to study at Higher or Further Education from September.

Catrin Woodend, Headteacher, commented: “We are delighted for the students that the results are so positive as this enables them to progress to the next stage of their chosen journey. Our results have improved year on year and the Sixth Form has grown to be recognised by the local community and Ofsted as one of the many strengths of the school. I would like to thank the students for their hard work, the Sixth Form teachers and the KS5 Pastoral team for their dedication, care and guidance in supporting the students and in preparing them for life beyond school. We wish them all well for the future”.
