Max (Year 8) – “I can’t wait to be a reporter on School News Report Day. I am doing this to improve my chance of getting a place at university and to have fun!”
Visvajit (Year 7) – “I’m really hoping to improve my English by taking part in BBC School News Report and can’t wait to interview staff on their views”
Isobel (Year 8) – “I am really looking forward to exploring mental health and young people as I am a peer mentor. I am keen to hear your stories…”
Students in years 7 and 8 at The Abbey School, Faversham are gearing up for their first ever BBC School News Report on the 16th March 2017.
Throughout the day, the students are transforming from ‘normal’ school student to fully fledged BBC School Reporters which means that have an ‘access all areas pass’ to help them cover the variety of stories that they have been carefully researching. The stories include key issues that the students feel passionate about, like mental health and wellbeing amongst our peers and the outcome of Brexit.
All of this hard work is being supported by English teachers Mrs Le Brunn-Healey and Miss Bishop, who are using their English, Media and Drama expertise to teach interviewing and research skills.
We look forward to BBC News Report day!
Students from this school will be making the news for real on 16 March 2017 as they take part in BBC News School Report. We aim to publish the news by 1600 GMT on News Day, so please save this page as a favourite and return to it later.
